The MYTI Youth Club, which operates out of The Phoenix Centre in Preston was open last week for the first week of its Summer Programme.

The theme was “The MYTI Mega Team Challenge” which involved two teams, each led by one of the Club’s Young Leaders competing in a series of activities and competitions with points accumulating throughout the week.

MYTI will be open for two further weeks during the summer holidays. The week starting the 14th August is entitled “MYTI’s Got Talent Week” and will include working on a range of creative activities culminating in a performance and presentation of artwork.

The third week. Commencing on the 21st August is entitled “MYTI Community & Wellbeing Week”. This will include a First Aid Course when all children will learn basic first aid techniques. There will also be a visit from local professional boxer Nathan Mizon and Surrey Police’s youth engagement team. Community activities will include children delivering leaflets about the Preston Community Event and more Litter Picking throughout the area.

The Club also has two visits To The Old Pheasantry, a rural education centre on The North Downs where children will experience the countryside and a range of outside activities.

Although the Club has been established for five years, earlier this year it achieved charity status.

Whilst the Club receives some finance from Surrey County Council to support children from poorer families, the Club needs to raise at least an additional £2000 for each weekly programme. Any donations to help fund activities would be welcomed via the Club’s Just Giving Page. The Club would also be interested to hear from anyone interested in helping to organise and manage the Club’s activities.
