Councillors have two basic roles – firstly, to assist and represent residents and secondly, to play a full role in developing the council’s policies and in scrutinising the council and holding it to account. As Residents Association councillors we are the main opposition group at County and hold the balance of power at the Borough . We are in a joint group with the councillors in Nork at the borough level. At the County we work in a group on common interests with the Residents Association and independent councillors from Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead, Woking, Elmbridge, Waverley Guildford, Spelthorne and Tandridge .
Barry Nash lives in Preston and moved into the area in 2020 from Ewell Village. He was previously a Residents Association Councillor for Epsom & Ewell where he was chairman of the Community & Wellbeing Committee for five years. Barry started his working life in the Royal Marines and more recently worked in mobile telecoms with Vodafone and Ericsson, before moving into education teaching Business Studies at Reigate College. He is married to Kim with two children. Barry’s main concerns are ensuring good health provision and feeling safe in the ward, as well as protecting the parks and open spaces

Tim Snuggs previously spent 30 years in the Metropolitan Police Service much of which was in the CID in London’s West End. He is currently Vice Chairman and Poppy Appeal organiser for the Banstead and District Branch of the Royal British Legion. He is the long standing chairman of the highly successful “Music in the Park” which stages a concert every summer in Nork Park. He has also been chairman of the Board of Governors of Epsom Downs Primary School from 2006 to 2017 and was Chairman and founder member of the Beacon School Parents Association before becoming the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Beacon Friends Association. His personal interests include the theatre, and also playing cricket.

Nick Harrison has been a resident of the ward for over 30 years. Nick has been a councillor since 2003, serving on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and until recently on Surrey County Council. Nick is married to Pam and their three children have all been educated at local schools. At the Borough Council Nick is the opposition group leader and chairs the Overview & Scrutiny Committee. Nick is also a trustee of Tattenhams Community Library.
