In January we advised that work was underway with the preparation of the site for Banstead Men’s Shed. The foundations were nearly completed for Age Concern Banstead’s project to provide a new local resource, a place for men to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending.

We can report that the shed has now been installed. There is still more work to be done but, Nick Pulsford, the Chairman of Age Concern Banstead, hopes to be ready to open later this month or early April.

The site is behind Banstead Community Centre. This has been a long-term project that Nick has driven through despite legal and planning issues and a great deal of fundraising. But at last this new local resource will soon be ready to open its doors.
There will be limited opening to start with, but it is hoped to extend opening as “Shedders” and supervisors are recruited. Anyone with practical skills and some time to spare are welcome to contact Nick by email at shed@ageconcernbanstead.org.uk
We will keep you informed of developments.
And a by- product to the Men’s Shed project we may also be welcoming a Repair Café to Banstead. See our article on this exiting project.
