Here is a brief update on four local planning applications most impacting on residents:

Drive through Kentucky Fried Chicken store in ASDA Burgh Heath car park

This planning application has been withdrawn. We are told it is because of highways issues, so it’s not happening.

Shawley School’s plan to build an artificial grass football pitch on the field behind the school

Revisions to the planning application have been promised following concerns raised by residents and councillors, but have not yet been forthcoming. A residents’ group has been established which is monitoring the situation. We will post any new information on our website, as we receive it.

Raven Housing Trust’s plan to build homes on various garage sites in the area

Following local consultation by Raven, planning applications have just been submitted. We were concerned about the density of the build, the amount of parking spaces and access issues. As far as we can see the applications are largely unchanged. You can find them on the planning section of the Reigate & Banstead planning page on their website if you want to view and and make a comment.

The applications can be found under the following references:

23/00816/F Ferriers Way – 4 properties

23/00817/F Upland Way – 6 properties

23/00820/F Shawley Crescent – 6 properties

23/00821/F Hatch Gardens – 3 properties

23/00823/F Downland Close – 3 properties

Chavecroft redevelopment in Broad Walk

This shows an artists impression from the previous planning application proposal. The latest changes include reducing the number of floors to two.

Raven are proposing changes to their approved scheme to replace the Chavecroft facility. There would still be 23 homes (18 flats and 5 houses), and the number of parking spaces would remain the same. The houses would be on two rather than three floors and therefore less obtrusive. It seems the changes are driven by the need to contain the cost of the scheme.
