Last December we told you about the YMCA East Surrey’s Walking for Health Programme. They organise a programme of local walks that anyone is free to join to keep fit, enjoy the outdoors, and socialise with others. This has now been renamed “Ramblers Wellbeing Walks YMCA East Surrey.”
The Ramblers organisation has been working over the past two years to update and modernise – which includes short walks such as the YMCA’s. The new name is intended to provide a more holistic approach to wellbeing: improving not just physical and mental health, but also the social aspect, helping to prevent loneliness and isolation.
It’s also a great opportunity to get some exercise whilst exploring our local countryside. There are four regular walks around Preston & Tattenham Corner. It’s free to participate and no booking is required. Just turn up at the location shown on their website 10 minutes before the walk is due to start.
