Surrey Heartlands vaccination programme – some numbers

As at Sunday (9th May), Surrey Heartlands had delivered over 850,000 vaccines via local GP sites, Hospital Hubs, Community Pharmacies and the Vaccination Centre at Epsom Racecourse. Of these over 250,000 are second doses. Overall Surrey Heartlands continues to perform well exceeding the national average in many areas.  All those aged 38 and over, as well as those with underlying health conditions, are now eligible to receive the vaccine.

Changes to local vaccination services delivered from Epsom Racecourse

A reminder that the larger vaccination centre at Epsom Racecourse – bookable via the National Booking System – is relocating this weekend to Sandown Park racecourse.  The service will be running at Sandown Park from this Monday 17th May. 

From 18 May the GP-led vaccination service based at Epsom Racecourse managed by GP Health Partners will also be re-locating, to Leatherhead Hospital. Sessions will run at Leatherhead on weekdays from 4pm – 8pm and on Saturdays and Sundays 8am- 6pm for those eligible and invited by text or phone.  Parking is available at the site and traffic management will be available on arrival to provide guidance on where to park and how to find the vaccination clinic. Volunteer stewards will continue to support those attending the vaccination clinic who have various accessibility needs.  Vaccines will only be available for those who have a booked appointment.

Vaccines preventing 33,000 hospital admissions – study by Public Health England

Recent Public Health England figures reveal that vaccines have stopped at least 33,000 people aged 65 and over from needing hospital treatment, and saved 11,700 lives among those aged 60 and over.  More information is available here.
