Tattenhams Residents’ Association
Minutes of the AGM
Held on Thursday 28th March 2019 at Tattenham Corner Library
1. Chairperson’s welcome: Rue Stanley opened the meeting at 8.00 pm by thanking everyone for attending.
2. Guest Speaker, Mike Fox, Chair of Surrey Neighbourhood Watch Association and Watch Co-coordinator for Tadworth and Walton gave an informative talk on the work and organisation of Neighbourhood Watch.
3. Chairman’s Report
Rue Stanley reported that the Boundary Review affecting Reigate and Banstead was quite a significant redrawing of the boundaries. In light of this the RA needs to change its name to reflect the population it now represents and will be called Tattenhams and Preston Residents. We will have a new logo and this will be effective after May 2019.
In the past year, 10,000 newsletters have been delivered in Tattenhams and Preston. Three new committee members have been recruited. Subscriptions and revenue were the same as 2018. Overall membership was down and we do need more volunteers to deliver newsletters and collect subscriptions. Members of the committee will be going out to the Preston area to recruit, as well as running events to recruit more members and volunteers generally.
Elections are on 2nd May 2019. All Banstead and Reigate councillors in all wards are standing for re-election. The RA logo will be against our councillors’ names on the ballot paper.
Keith and Ruth Ravalde proposed and seconded the Chairman’s Report.
4. The Minutes of the AGM 2018 were accepted as read, Proposer Richard Mantel and seconded by John Butcher.
5. Constitutional Changes to Association Rules
These are required by the Electoral Commission, changes have been submitted and approved by EC and RA committee and the required forms approved by members.
The changes are:
- Committee size reduced to 10 from 16. Quorum reduced to 5 from 7.
- Suspension of committee members for bringing association into disrepute.
- Dissolution of the association and disposal of the assets at an EGM.
Proposer Paula Quinn, seconder Nick Harrison.
6. Treasurer’s Report
